This code of Practice gives practical guidance ob regulations 5 and 6 of the Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2002 (CHIP 3). This Code gives advice on how to comply with the law. It has a special legal status. If you are prosecuted for breach of health and safety law, and it is proved that you have not followed the relevant provisions of the Code, a court will find you at fault, unless you can show that you have complied with the law in some other way.

This Approved Guide (Sixth edition) sets out the general principles of classification and labelling for supply as required by the Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2009 (CHIP 4).
